Robbie turned 81 November 22. I’m in my 82nd year. We celebrate one day at a time. We are glad to welcome year oldKobe and his age 4 brother Mason, along with age 3 Brooklynn, and her age 7 sister Madison four days a week. Drop-offs begin as early as6:10 and last retrievals as late as5:45 p.m.

We celebrate the faithful worship and partnering of grandkid families of grandchildren Jason, Heather, Jami, and Lesli at Lexington’s CMA franchise, Quest Community. This brings together Jason’s Micah, Isaiah, and Caleb, Heather’s Madison and Brooklynn, Jami’s Mason and Kobe, and Lesli’s Tyler on Sundays and often on Wednesdays. Lesli reports she loves the MAT group there on Friday nights. Visit Quest services on-line at www.questcommunity.com.  Jordan and Paula with twin boys Nicholas and Noah, age 6, are core participants at their Southern Baptist Church in Humble, Texas, where the boys attend preschool and play on sports teams, and where Paula works at the preschool.

We celebrate that Justin is expanding the menu and building the clientele at a small restaurant Tiffany’s Dad bought. Tiffany teaches 3rd grade and is marketing her craft “hair bows” on line and wholesaling to vendors. Justin and Tiffany’s twin girls Jaydan and Briana are now 3.

Robbie celebrates Beth Moore Bible Study on Tuesday nights. Don mentors a few doctoral students and occasional former students, with the bulk of his exchanges on e-mail and attachment edit exchanges.

We celebrate Life at Bethel Pointe is rich in friendships and looking out for each other.  Don often walks across the driveway to tap on the sun room window to bring Lyman Coleman from his solitude to the front door to let him in for a few minutes of catching up. Lyman’s study light and our reciprocal bedroom light serve as early morning signals that “all is well” in both condos. Bethel Pointe gives us friends with rich and diverse backgrounds, and we celebrate the amazing and wonderful life history highlights from each other over weekly coffee or at monthly potlucks and pancake breakfasts—our ritual gatherings.

We celebrate that we can slip out of town when the children’s parents are home for any holiday and we check into a Comfort Suites franchise. We missed our 2010 June week with friends because of Rex Wildman’s sudden health crisis and we decided to cancel our Branson reservations. But in October we celebrated Rex’s signal that he was eager for a visit. We drove up for a 48-hour visit with our travel friends.

We celebrate our luxury of reading books including George Washington’s Sacred Fire, Ira Stoll’s Samuel Adams—A Life, Clarence Thomas’ autobiography, A Grandfather’s Son, and David Barton’s shocking research on the real account of American History in Black and White.  We are thankful for each witness!

We celebrate our doctors’ good reports on our routine visits. Don will need a pacemaker replacement sometime in 2011, but that should be routine. These “clay bodies” are noticeably temporary and fragile, but our core sense of “being” sings and rejoices as we celebrate our faith journey with Jesus.

We are blessed!
